Community Awards winners announced

The Sussex Disability Football League has many amazing people involved with the organising and running of the league. The leagues success and continued development is down to hard working volunteers.

Eight local grassroots champions from across Sussex have been named as this year’s winners of the Sussex County FA Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s. Throughout February people have been nominating their grassroots heroes within the county, from individual volunteers to clubs with a fantastic response.

We are extremely proud to announce that not one, but two of our volunteers have been nominated as Sussex Winners. Congratulations goes to Pam Chandler and Luke Kavanagh-Deeprose.

Young Volunteer of the Year
Luke Kavanagh-Deeprose – 1066 Specials

Luke has been a key member of the 1066 Specials Club not only as a player of the Premiership team but as a Coach to the 1066 Juniors team.Luke trains hard to develop his own skills as a player and still finds time to volunteer for the junior members of his club. Luke is a role model to the younger players who see him not only on the touch line of their games encouraging sportsmanship, they also see him then playing his own matches on the same day where Luke displays his own sportsmanship. We are very proud of Luke and look forward to next season to see how Luke and the Junior develop. Congratulations Luke, very well deserved!

Sussex County FA Football Workforce Volunteer Award
Pam Chandler – Sussex Disability Football League and Female Coach Mentor

Pam has been key to the running of the league for many years now and not enough thanks can be given for the amount of hours hard work that is put in form Pam behind the scenes for the league. Pam is there on match day answer continuous questions, talking with the players, collecting scores, developing the Rep Team and taking them to the final of the South East Disability Cup. These are just to name a small amount of all Pam does. Well done, congratulations and most of all, Thank you Pam!
