The Sussex Disability Football League has released a new promotional video showcasing the exciting opportunities currently taking place within the league.
Recently, as a league we have signed up to the Sussex County FA’s Disability Football Pledge Project, pledging to increase youth provision within our already expanding youth section, to ensure we fulfil that pledge we have created this promotional video.
The league is always keen to raise awareness, and encourage more clubs and individuals to become involved in disability football.
The Sussex Disability Football League is a pan-disability league that operates across the whole of Sussex (the only impairment groups not included are wheelchair users and blind players).
The league is 7-a-side and played on the 3G Artificial Turf Pitch at Sussex County FA Headquarters in Lancing. The season runs September to June, with a winter break for January.
This season the League has been thriving with over thirty teams participating. The juniors section is an ever developing section with two new teams joining this season, Seaford Town Juniors and Manor Green Flyers under-18s.
Final standings from the 2016/17 season were as follows:
Sussex Disability Football League – Adult Division 1
Winners: AITC Worthing
Runners-Up: AITC Sunday Adults
Sussex Disability Football League – Adult Championship
Winners: Lawn Court
Runners-Up: AITC Albion
Sussex Disability Football League – Adult Premiership
Winners: Lewes CFC
Runners-Up: AITC Eastbourne
The League/County Representative Team also worked extremely hard this season to come together and achieve a runners-up medal in the South East Regional 11-a-side Disability Cup.
