As you are all aware, we have many supportive volunteers and committee members and the workforce behind the league just keeps on growing and growing. Today we have some more exciting news to announce!
Our Chairman, Mathew Major has been a constant driving force behind the development of our league over the past few years. Mathew has worked endlessly behind the scenes at committee meetings always looking for way to further improve the league. Despite an extremely busy schedule, Mathew has always found the time to attended our match days and support all the players. As a league, we have been extremely fortunate to have such a caring Chairman who is always happy to be involved and most of you would have seen Mathew outside in the freezing cold moving goals, collecting cones and supporting each and every one of you.
Mathew has decided that now is the time to step down as Chairman of the league however, we are not to be sad as Mathew has shown his commitment to us by staying on as a league committee member and will still come down and support the league on match days. We are ever so lucky to have Mathews continued support and on behalf of the whole league we would like to say a massive Thank You!!
The league committee met last week and after careful consideration we are delighted to announce Steve Atkins as our new interim Chairman. As you all know Steve has been a huge part of the running of the league, taking on the Respect Ambassador Role along with the Referees Secretary Role. Steve is an extremely passionate volunteer and has a smile on his face no matter what! Steve will take on the Chairman role in the interim until we have an official vote in at the AGM. Please don’t fear though, we will all still see Steve on a regular basis as he will continue his other roles.
Steve has expressed his gratitude and thanks and had this to say when he proudly took on his new role as Chairman “I am completely honored to be elected as interim Chairman and I will give the league my absolute all. The league has played a huge part in my own personal development and has fulled my desire and passion for football, watching the players each month gives me great joy and is the sole reason I am always smiling at fixtures”
