The Sussex Disability Football League held their first ever Disability Football Showcase Event at the Sussex County FA. The Event was to raise awareness of the disability game here is sussex and to showcase the fantastic work that all players, coaches and league volunteers do to make our league a success each year.
The event as attended by over 300 players who took part in around 35 matches throughout the day. The event was also attended by many spectators including Sussex County FA members, league sponsors, team sponsors, pledge project members and even the Chairman of Adur Peter Metcalf. Chairman Peter Metcalf said “I had a great time today meeting everyone who is making a terrific community impact at the disability football day” Russel Martin Academy are partners in the Sussex County FA Pledge Project and have themselves made a fantastic pledge to “Deliver a new inclusive disability sport and wellbeing programme” were in amongst the spectators supporting on the day. Ben Morris, who is a keen disability football supporter and the Health and Fitness Development Officer at the Russel Martin Foundation had this to say on the day “having spent the day watching the opening games I am hooked. It’s been a moving day watching an amazing group of adults and kids makes friends, keep fit and have fun” Jade Harker, Sussex Disability Football League added “Its been a fantastic event, we couldn’t have asked for much more, we have perfect weather to go along with some exciting games of football from Children to Adults.
