Skipton Grassroots Winners

This year we applied to the Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving initiative and can confirm that we have been announced as one of the winners in 2017!

Skipton received hundreds of applications from community groups, clubs and organisations from across the UK and were really impressed with the work that we do. After the application process we made it to the shortlist stage to beat off dozens of other applicants and were able to clearly demonstrate the positive impact we make in our local community.

The public were asked to vote to decide the winners and we were profiled on the skipton website, www.skiptongrg.co.uk, to help raise awareness of the work that we do, along with promoting our group on social media channels too. So it is with great delight that we can now announce that we have been awarded £500 to put into our league to implement the development plans that we have been

Our League Vision
Our vision is to continue to develop and grow the league each season, while maintaining the high level facilities, brilliant match day atmosphere and audience numbers that we have already gained. We aim to provide regular playing opportunities for Adults and Youths with disabilities. We would especially like to see the league attract more female and youth players.

This can only be achieved by providing a stable foundation each season with the assistance of funding. We have 300+ players playing with us every season and £500 is going to go a long way to ensuring these opportunities are continued. We would like to use the £500 to support players to gain qualifications such as Level 1 coaching. We are also working with the County FA to develop a level 1 that is adapted and suited to people with disabilities who may not be able to cope with the standard of courses currently provided. This will encourage independence, confidence, knowledge and the qualifications to actively engage within society.

Skipton Grassroots Giving have said this “We would like to take this time to congratulate your group and for being part of our Grassroots Giving initiative, for sharing with us the fantastic work that you do, and for being so active in supporting your local community.
