Silent Weekend

Sussex Disability Football Leauge took part in the FA’s first ever National Silent Support Weekend to promote good behaviour on touchlines across grassroots youth football.

The initiative encourages spectators and coaches to show their support during the match through applause only.

Our U12’s and U16’s teams all took part in this initiative and we were blown away by the support shown by all parents and spectators.

The aim is to reduce pressure on youth players at grassroots level and give them a better opportunity and environment to find their own voice, improve their on-pitch communications skills, develop their own game, and most importantly have fun.

We witnessed some epic games of football this weekend, where players were given the freedom and opportunity to think and speak, make their own decisions and claim back the game that is theirs.

We cant thank our parents and spectators enough for playing their part in this initiative and who made every effort to applaud the players throughout the games.
