South East Disability League Cup

On Saturday 30th November we hosted the inaugural competition at Hassocks playing two matches against Victory Hants and AFC Bournemouth.

The President of the Sussex County F. A. Mr Les Kempster attended the event and spoke with the Sussex squad prior to their first match. Just wonderful to see him at our event, and it goes to show that although he is aged 92 he is still in love with the game.

The results of the three matches played on the day were:

Sussex 8     Victory Hants 0
AFC Bournemouth 2   Sussex 2
Victory Hants 2       AFC Bournemouth 2

Points table

Sussex 4
AFC B 2
Victory Hants 1

This means that Sussex and AFC Bournemouth will go through to the quarter finals of the Competition and will join Folkestone Invicta, Carshalton Athletic, Maidstone and Reading plus two teams from the last qualifying group yet to play.

There will be two quarter finals taking place in Feb/March, which will be a format of 4 in a group with the top 2 qualifying.

Once the draw is made teams will be informed.

Well done to all the players who represented the county of Sussex, our coaches, Ian and Chris, not forgetting the match officials Gary Ben and Kevin.

It was a great day and we hope this is the first of many such more to come.
