The great thing about football is that everyone speaks the same language!
At 15 years old Faye’s ambition is to play football at the highest level she possibly can. Faye is hearing impaired with a language impairment, which often leaves her feeling isolated and suffering from low self esteem but playing within her football team at Albion in the Community it has helped her with these issues and has given her more confidence in her everyday life
Faye always looks forward to Sussex Disability Football League match days as she enjoys playing her part in a football team and feeling included. . She feels comfortable around everyone at the Sussex Disability League even though there are not many female players!
Faye’s mum said “As a family we love to support Faye and watch her becoming a confident player on the pitch as well as spending time with the friends she has made through football”
For Faye, working and being part of a team involves a lot of hard work and technical skills which can be challenging at times. Faye believes that The Sussex Disability Football League gives her the the opportunity to play competitive matches and build up her confidence in football and in her everyday life.
Faye added “It’s a long car drive to get there but it’s worth it in the end”
Jade Harker (League Secretary) said “We have players coming from all over Sussex to take part in our league and we are always thrilled to see the players enjoying them selves and developing as a person not just as a player. Faye works very well with her team and although she is 1 of 2 girls who takes part in the Under 18’s section she is not phased what so ever and its brilliant to see”
As a league it would be fantastic to see more girls like Faye playing football and reaching the levels they want to reach. There really is an opportunity for all abilities within our league and we welcome anyone to come along to our next set of fixtures on the 13th May to see what its like for your selves.
